Description
Up for sale is a very slightly used map of the geology of the island of Greenland, a self-ruled province of Denmark. It was published by theG
eological Survey of Greenland (GGU) in 1995. This map is the FIRST EDITION.
I am a retired marine geologist and was working in the offshore part of region at the time.
I received the map because I worked offshore on the east Greenland insular shelf, mapping the seafloor topography. Most of the contours offshore are mine, provided to the GGU as a gift for having allowed me to work there. The authors are friends. It hung on a wall in my office until I retired (see below).
The map is huge--47" tall by 38" wide, including the geological history, sedimentary history, rock type distribution, etc. Greenland is not a hospitable place other than along the coasts, and ice thickness, although diminishing, should be around for a long, long time.
The map was originally rolled but it is now folded for storage [and mailing]. It has been in a drawer in a map-file cabinet since I retired in 1999, over 20 years ago. I had forgotten I had it until it recently "reappeared". However, I am now well over 80, and I need to downsize before my heirs have to do it for me.
Shipping includes a "stiffener" to keep the postal people from damaging the map.
If you get more than one of my listings, I will combine shipping and fees.
Thanks for looking and good luck!
