Geology and Uranium Deposits, Shirley Basin Area, Wyoming
. This 82-page report, published in 1972, covers the geology of this large area in great detail. All the formations are completely described, and numerous photographs help make the geology clear. Rocks in the study area range in age from Precambrian to Cenozoic.
There is extensive discussion along with some really great photos of the uranium deposits in this area. They are classic roll-front deposits, which you can learn more about by reading this. They are the classic style of uranium deposit found in sedimentary rocks in the western US. This area is about 35 miles south of Casper, and is about 30x20 miles in size. It hosted some of the most important uranium reserves in the United States. There is also a short section on monazite deposits in the area.
This is a great report that really covers the uranium deposits in detail. There are discussions of numerous other elements and their occurrence in deposits as well. Makes for good reading and will give you a good understanding of these beasts!
