    Description

GREAT URANIUM AREA!!  COLOR MAPS!!  ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1087-J,
    Geology of the Lost Creek
    Schroeckingerite Deposits, Sweetwater County,
    Wyoming.
Published in 1962, this is a really nice report with loads of large color maps and sections. This comes complete with the large map case
    over an inch thick
    ,
    all eight
of the maps and sections, and the 88-page book.
Schroeckingerite is a rare uranium mineral know as an insignificant accessory mineral in some uranium deposits, but in this area is was the main uranium mineral of the deposits, occurring as small nodules in the rock. The area of the deposits was about a square mile. The text tells all about the mineral, the local formations, and the structure of the deposits, and gives some theories of their origin. There is a lot of detail.
The six color maps and sections are great. Some are very large. Look at the tape measure in the pics to get an idea of the size. They dug trenches across the deposit in many locations to get a better idea about it, and there is a whole sheet devoted to the geology of the trenches. In addition there is a nice location map. There is probably some of this mineral still around, so this would make a great guide to collection this rare mineral.
    This should
be of interest to mineral collectors, historians, and residents of the area. It's nice to find it complete and in good condition.
