    Description

    SCARCE LARGE REPORT!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1107-H,
Geology and Uranium Deposits of the Pumpkin Buttes Area of the Powder River Basin, Wyoming.
Published in 1964, this is a large and scarce report on this geologically interesting area known for several uranium deposits. This comes complete with the large map case, the 98-page book , and all eight of the original maps and cross sections, several of which are full color maps. Two very large full-color maps over four feet wide, show the entire area with the Pumpkin Buttes prominent.
The text describes all the geology and the occurrence of uranium mineral in nodules. There is a section on the mineralogy, which discusses the occurrence of these minerals:
    Coffinite
    Uraninite
    Carnotite
    Tyuyamunite
    Metatyuyamunite
    Uranophane
    Liebigite
    Bayleyite
    Pascoite
    Hewettite
    Paramontroseite
    Manganite
    Pyrolusite
    Psilomelane
    Pyrite
    Native Selenium!
    Those are some interesting minerals!
The Blowout and Jeannette deposits are mentioned several times in the book, but there are many other occurrences and deposits in the area. This would make a great guide to someone looking to prospect or collect minerals in the area.
