    Description

    HARD TO FIND!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1626-C,
Significance of Tourmaline-Rich Rocks in the Grenville Complex of St. Lawrence County, New York
. Published in 1985, this 33-page book is in great condition. It details the occurrence and origin of the tourmaline-rich rocks of this area with a view toward understanding their broader importance. It is an interesting study of an interesting area that is home to the Balmat-Edwards mining district.
There are a variety of interesting rock types in this area including talc schists, tremolite schists, toumalinites, marble, gneiss, and other rocks. Both dravite and uvite tourmaline are known from this area, and their occurrence is discussed in this book. The mineralogy of tourmalines is discussed in some detail. This is an area with a long and rich mining history, and this would be a great addition to any library on the minerals and mineralogy of New York, or just an interesting book to the collector or geologist. The condition is quite good with only slight wear to the cover.
