  • Condition: Moderate general wear. Map case has taped corners, some corner bumping, scuffs, and light tanning of the spine. There is a library pocket inside. Text has some light corner bumping, but no internal marks and the binding is tight. The maps have seen varying degrees of use. All have stamps from the mining company on them, two to a sheet, but not covering anything. The first huge map has small holes at intersecting crease lines. One of the stratigraphic diagrams has a certain layer colored lightly in each pane - see the third photo. A few maps have very minor folded corners. Overall a good example of this report, with a bit of wear from use, but no real issues structurally.

    , San Miguel and Dolores Counties, Colorado
    . Published in 1968, This is the big report on this important uranium mining district, the first of a series of related reports on the same area. This abundantly illustrated 108-page report delves comes complete with a large stack of maps and diagrams in a map case. The whole thing is an inch thick with the text.
    This report details the formations containing and surrounding the ore-bearing layers of the district. The sedimentary rocks we extremely important to the localization of uranium in the rocks, so detailed study was made of them.
    There is prospecting value in understanding the relationships between the rock layers.
    This area was a prolific producer of uranium in times past and may still have potential for new uranium discoveries. This large report provides interesting insights into the deposits. There are
    sixteen plates
    in the map pocket, including three very large full color maps that are more than four feet tall. They are bigger than my photo stand! It's a really great report for all the information, well supported by the numerous maps and diagrams.
    Note that I consider this a rare item. Those of you that know me know I don't use that term often. Most of these were gobbled up by mining companies and don't reach the market very often. To find it complete with all maps is unusual.
