Description
FEW LEFT!!!This is USGS Professional Paper 783,
Oligocene Stratigraphy, Tectonics, and Paleogeography Southwest of the San Andreas Fault, Santa Cruz Mountains and Gabilan Range, California Coast Ranges
.
Published in 1973, this is a scarce and desirable report this geologically interesting area south of San
Francisco
, around Santa Cruz.
This 18-page report comes complete with the original full color map, which is quite large.
The geology is diverse.
Although the title suggests the area is SW of, and away from the San Andreas fault, the fault actually passes though the entire map area, and the geology on both sides is shown for quite a distance. If you live near Santa Cruz or San Juan Bautista, chances are your area is covered by this map, which covers hundreds of square miles.
The color map is really cool, and would look framed and placed in a business or home in the area.
This report makes for very interesting reading. Rocks in the area range from quite young to Paleozoic in age, with some Cretaceous granite finding its way in as well. All in all it is a
fascinating
study on an interesting area, seldom available. Their movements along the faults of the area are discussed in the text.
As always, please read the condition notes.
