Description
BACK AFTER FOUR YEARS!! ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!! ONE OF THE CLASSICS!!This is USGS Bulletin 948-E,
Preliminary Report on the Corundum Deposits in the Buck Creek Peridotite, Clay County, North Carolina
. This volume is 26 pages and has all four of the original maps. The maps detail the locations of numerous mines and prospects, some of which produce ruby, and blue sapphire! This is a really cool area that I have collected at, and boy do I wish I had had this publication to guide me to the good stuff! This report covers Chunky Gal mountain where ruby can be found, plus the Big Shaft and many other prospects. This area still has loads of potential, and I still hear of people finding nice specimens to this day.
Some of the maps are of specific mine workings. One of the maps shows the locations of prospects all over the area! This is one of those scarcest-of-scarce publications that comes along only once in a blue moon. It is a virtual treasure map showing the exact locations of the ruby-bearing veins and many other prospects all over the area. These are simply not available from other sources. Its an exceptionally scarce and desirable publication.
