Description
This is USGS Bulletin 1222-B,Geology of the Northwest Corner of the Anaconda Quadrangle, Deer Lodge County, Montana
. Published in 1966, this is a pretty scarce item! This publication consists of the 28-page book and both of the original maps, one of which is a large full color map! The maps and book are both in excellent condition. This area has especially diverse geology due to the presence of rocks of a wide range of ages, from Precambrian Belt Group rocks through Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Tertiary rocks.
Granite of the area is reported to contain fluorite and pegmatitic portions. Streams within the study area drain known gold producing areas upstream of the bounds of the study area, so there may be gold placers needing some attention! This is an interesting and beautiful area in which you could hardly go wrong spending some time checking things out. This is a good opportunity for the collector of Montana minerals, the historian, or anyone that wants to give the area a shot!
