This is USGS Bulletin 1246,
Metalliferous Lode Deposits of Alaska
. Published in 1967, these are scarce because they have mostly been gobbled up by mining companies. The report consists of a 254-page book and the original map in a pocket in the back.
This report was compiled from prior Federal and State reports on deposits all over Alaska. The goal was to promote mineral exploration by providing a thorough compendium of the mines, geology, and districts that were already known. There are so many districts I decided to take pictures of the Table of Contents rather than type them all. Most sections in the book have a map showing one or several districts, and a list of the significant deposits in each, followed by some treatment of the geology, mining history, and production, including some information on extents of underground workings in some cases. The map sheet shows three maps, each with different features. The first shows the locations fo district around the state. The others show geology.
This is a great report for anyone wanting an overview of Alaska mining. You won't find as much information under one cover in any other book or report. Rare, because these were mostly bought by mining companies.
