    GREAT REPORT WITH AMAZING MAPS!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1153,
Geology of the Georgetown Canyon - Snowdrift Mountain Area, Southeastern Idaho
    .
    Published in 1964, t
his publication consists of the 105-page book, two full size color geologic maps, a smaller full color map, two full color sheets of cross sections, and two stratigraphic correlation diagrams. For its type this has one of the better sets of maps and sections. They are really great.
    This
    large
    report
discusses all the formations in this area. Of particular note is the Phosphoria formation, known for large deposits of phosphate. Phosphate has been mined in the region for years from many deposits, for use in
    fertilizer
    and the chemical
    industry
. The geology is complex, and the maps and cross sections are very colorful, illustrating the geology very well. Makes for interesting reading. The study area is about 160 square miles within the central Peale Mountains. Elevations in the area range from 6200 to 9960 feet.
This is a great report on this beautiful area north of Montpelier, Idaho. A scarce item.
