    Description

    This is USGS Bulletin 955-C,
Phosphate Deposits of the Deer Creek-Wells Canyon Area, Caribou County, Idaho
. This publication consists of the 39-page book
    and the original geologic map
plus two stratigraphic sections showing the characteristics of the formations in different areas. Published in 1952 there can’t be many of these around anymore.
The Phosphoria formation is known for phosphatic shales throughout large areas of the northern Rocky Mountains states. Many such deposits were turned into mines for the phosphate for fertilizer and other uses. At the time of this report, this area had never been developed
with any mines, so this report was the first detailed look at this area. The map shows complex folding and faulting in the area, with nice cross sections. There might be some interesting minerals at these sites.
    Makes for interesting reading.
As always, please read the condition notes.
