  • Condition: Stamps on the cover plus some minor marks and smudges. Some corner bumping and edge wear to covers. Some wear to the spine including a small tear at the bottom. Back cover rumpled around the map pocket - typical of these. No internal marks. Binding is tight. Maps are excellent. A good example of this old report.

    This is USGS Professional Paper 726-A,
    Aeromagnetic, Bouger Gravity, and Generalized Geologic Studies of the Great Falls - Mission Range Area, Northwestern Montana.
    Published in 1972 this is a pretty interesting item covering an array of information about the same area. This this 19-page large format book comes complete with
    all three of the original maps.
    The
    purpose
    of this study was to look at the geologic structure of the region with added help from aeromagnetic and gravity studies of the same area. The two additional approaches helped improve the structural understanding significantly resulting in an improved interpretation over previous work. To be honest I didn;t really understand how they expected to integrate the three things, but it really made much more sense than I expected. An interesting study on an interesting and beautiful area. Well worth getting for the cool color map alone, which would look pretty interesting framed and hung in a business or residence in the area.
    This is a great old report on this area. Nice to find it in good condition.
