    Description

    SCARCE ITEM !! VINTAGE 1916 !!
This is USGS Professional Paper 98-I,
A Reconnaissance of the Archean Complex of the Granite Gorge, Grand Canyon, Arizona.
    Published in
    1916
, this is a scarce old item. This 19-page book gives an overview of the various rock types that make up the deepest and oldest rocks in the Grand Canyon. The Archean rocks are over a billion years old, and include metamorphic and igneous rocks of various types, including schists, pink granite and pegmatites, gneisses, metadiorite, metabasite and others.
This is a nice overview that will give you a good idea of these ancient rocks. I'm sure there are newer books on the topic, but this is cool for being over a hundred years old, being published only four years after Arizona became a state! Inside there is a cool picture of the Granite Gorge as well as a nice little map of the location discussed in the text. The descriptions are reasonably easy to understand with a basic geology knowledge.
All in all a pretty cool vintage item you will enjoy for its history and information. Hard to find these ephemeral reports these days.
Expert packing assured. Will be shipped with a cardboard backer.
