FEW LEFT AND GOING FAST!!This is USGS Bulletin 1181-Q,
Geology of the Jolon and Williams Hill Quadrangles, Monterey County, California.
Published in 1965, this is a pretty scarce item. It describes the geology of these two adjacent quadrangles in detail. The area covered is in south-central Monterey County. The mapped areas are in the vicinity of San Antonio and Nacimiento Rivers. The book is 27 pages, and comes with all three of the original geologic maps, two of which are full color geologic maps of the quadrangles.
Some
gold
is mentioned as being present along the
San Antonio
river near Jolon! Numerous rock types occur in the area, including granite, schist, and various sedimentary rocks. The structure of the formations is complex in many areas, making this a very interesting report. Each of the color maps has a nice geologic cross section at the bottom, which really helps with understanding the geology. Numerous oil wells were also drilled in the area and are listed in the book. The maps are beautiful! This is a great report with nice full color maps that show significant detail All in all it is a scarce item on an interesting area.
