    Description

    DIVERSE MINERALS!! LARGE MAP!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1186,
Geology of the Cedar Mesa - Boundary Butte Area, San Juan County, Utah
. Published in 1965, this is a scarce. This 128-page book offers a great look at this interesting district, and comes with a larger, full color geologic map that is super cool looking! The book discusses all the formations and rocks of the area. Numerous wells were drilled for oil and gas, and several were found to contain significant amounts of
    helium
, of all things! In addition, some
    gold
was produced along certain creeks in the area, and some
    uranium
prospects are briefly mentioned as well.
This is a cool report that really really covers the geology well. Most of the area consists of sedimentary rocks, but there is a section on various dikes, including some odd ones noted for
    serpentine tuff
! Sounds like that could be worth a look if you're  a mineral collector. There are several nice photos of features and locales within the text. It all works together to give a complete account of the area. A really good report, with a great map!
As always, please read the condition notes.
