    Description

    UNCOMMON ITEM!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 140-B,
Probiscidea and Edentia of the San Pedro Valley, Arizona.

, this is a scarce twelve page report on a topic of great geologic interest. It documents in text and photos the fossils of various vertebrates found in this area. This is one of several reports on the area, and it focuses on the elephant-like animals they found. Mastodons are mentioned in the text, but mostly their scientific names are used. The fossils are impressive, with many bones and teeth well preserved, and the thirteen plates in the back show them nicely.
This area also had fossils of rabbits, other rodents, turtles, horses, and birds that are described in some other reports. It is a rich area for fossil vertebrates. This report goes into more detail on the geology of the area. There were two main fossil areas whose locations are given in general terms, but the formations are Pleistocene, so it wouldn't be too hard to find out more about the exact locations.
This is an uncommon item that I think would be of interest to Paleontologists, or fossil hunters generally, or
    science minded
Arizonans. A cool old report that would make me want to have a look around those areas!
As always, please read the condition notes.
