Description
SCARCE ITEM!!This is USGS Professional Paper 459-A,
Stratigraphy and Structure of the Antler Peak Quadrangle, Humboldt and Lander Counties, Nevada.
Published in 1964, this is a scarce, verging on rare report on this interesting mining area. This 93-page book discusses the Paleozoic and later rocks that host the Phoenix Copper-Gold mine, the Copper Basin mine, the Marigold mine, and many other smaller mines and prospects. This volume is part of a series of reports detailing the geology and ore deposits of the Battle Mountain range, which falls entirely within the Antler Peak quadrangle.
This ares has a complex geologic history, both in terms of the original sedimentary rocks making up the mountains, and also the various structural systems that have modified them over time. It comes with all nine of the pocket plates, two of which are full color maps, plus a full color sheet of cross sectional block diagrams. Other sheets show various aspects of the geology, including two stratigraphic correlation diagrams, a regional location map, and vellum structural overlay (pictured, but hard to see as it is translucent.) Written by Ralph Roberts, one of the most eminent Great Basin geologists.
These are scarce verging on rare due to them being gobbled up by mining and exploration companies working in the area. Nice to find complete with all the maps. Don't miss this one.
