  • Condition: Originally had a map case, but the case is missing an only the map envelope and text remain. Significant wear to text. Stickers and writing on cover. Sticker and glue marks inside cover. Glue marks on title page. Cover pulling away from staples, but still attached. Wear-through along spine for a few inches. Binding is tight. pages are cleans and unmarked. Map pocket was removed away from original case and has old glue on one side. Maps are fine but one seems like it was refolded correctly and is a little bumped along one side as folded. A complete but worn example of this, good as a study copy.

    This is USGS Bulletin 1257,
    Geology of Southwestern North Park and Vicinity, Colorado
    . Published in 1968, there aren't many of these around. It consists of a hard case with two pockets containing the 119-page book and all three of the full color maps. This report cover a large area that is encompassed by six 7.5 minute quadrangles. The six quadrangles are fully mapped and depicted on three large map sheets which cover adjoining areas. They are very colorful. The quadrangles covered are these:
    Teal Lake and Coalmont
    Rabbit Ears and Spicer Peak
    Lake Agnes and Whitely Peak
    Overall the maps and report cover an area of 340 square miles, consisting of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks having a range of ages from Precambrian through Tertiary. Descriptions of all the units are provided in the text.
    Mineral commodities of various sorts occur in the area and several are discussed in the text, including uranium, manganese, coal, oil, gas, and others. The colorful uranium minerals
    carnotite
    and
    autunite
    were found in one area.
    This is a great report with very nice maps and tons of interesting information.
    As always please read the condition notes. This is complete but has significant condition issues and is priced accordingly as a study copy.
