Geology of Southwestern North Park and Vicinity, Colorado
. Published in 1968, there aren't many of these around. It consists of a hard case with two pockets containing the 119-page book and all three of the full color maps. This report cover a large area that is encompassed by six 7.5 minute quadrangles. The six quadrangles are fully mapped and depicted on three large map sheets which cover adjoining areas. They are very colorful. The quadrangles covered are these:
Teal Lake and Coalmont
Rabbit Ears and Spicer Peak
Lake Agnes and Whitely Peak
Overall the maps and report cover an area of 340 square miles, consisting of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks having a range of ages from Precambrian through Tertiary. Descriptions of all the units are provided in the text.
Mineral commodities of various sorts occur in the area and several are discussed in the text, including uranium, manganese, coal, oil, gas, and others. The colorful uranium minerals
carnotite
and
autunite
were found in one area.
This is a great report with very nice maps and tons of interesting information.
As always please read the condition notes. This is complete but has significant condition issues and is priced accordingly as a study copy.
