Description
INDISPENSABLE REFERENCE SET FOR CHROMITE EXPLORATION!!Here is a nice lot of
four reports
examining 17 different Chromite deposits of various kinds in Alaska. They come in pairs addressing different aspects of the same deposits. These are Bureau of Mines Information Circulars.
This would be useful for any geologists or companies exploring for chromite. These deposit types occur worldwide, so the observations here have value worldwide.
Circular 8990: Chromite Deposits Along the Border Ranges Fault, Southern Alaska - Part 1 Field Investigations and Descriptions of Chromite Deposits.
58 pages. Published in 1985, this one discusses multiple deposits in six areas. The geology and characteristics are discussed and supported with maps and photos. In all I see fourteen deposits described. A great report to understand fault hosted chromite deposits. Part 1 of 2. See pictures 1-4.
Circular 8991: Chromite Deposits Along the Border Ranges Fault, Southern Alaska - Part 2 Mineralogy and Results of
Beneficiation Tests
.
Provides percentages of different minerals in the deposits and test results of processing runs to see what worked best to concentrate a good chromite product for market. 37 pages, 1985. See pictures 5-6.
And in another area, these two similar reports:
Circular 8915: Podiform Chromite Occurrences in the Caribou Mountains and Lower Kanuti River Areas, Central Alaska - Part 1 Reconnaissance Investigations.
Similar to Part 1 above. This one describes three areas with supporting photos and maps. 27 pages. 1983. See pictures 7-10.
Circular 8916: Podiform Chromite Occurrences in the Caribou Mountains and Lower Kanuti River Areas, Central Alaska - Part 2 Beneficiation.
Provides test results of processing runs to see what worked best to concentrate a good chromite product for market. 15 pages, 1983. See pictures 11-12.
Together these provide a really great foundation in fault-related and alpine slab-type Chromite deposits. Excellent material for anyone prospecting this important metal. The observations here are valuable world wide for these deposit types. Rare to get all these together.
