    Description

    LAST ONE!!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 595, “
Geology of Uranium Deposits in the Dripping Springs Quartzite, Gila County, Arizona
.” Published in 1969, there can't be many of these around. The publication consists of an 108-page book and ALL FOUR OF THE ORIGINAL MAPS.
This is an interesting book with a complete discussion of the geology of the area, supported by the excellent maps. All the formations and rock units in the area are discussed in detail, as well as the uranium deposits the area is known for. The uranium
    deposits
discussed include three kinds: veins, blanket deposits, and irregular deposits. Among those
    discussed
    are the following:
    Red Bluff*
    Little Joe*
    Workman*
    Hope #1 and #3*
    Tomato Juice (!)
    Rock Canyon
Some of these were mined with underground workings. Those marked with * above are shown on one or more maps!
This area has quite diverse mineralogy, with far more minerals than most uranium districts.
    Minerals
mentioned or discussed within the text include:
    Uraninite
    Uraniferous chlorite
    Coffinite
    Molybdenite
    Pyrrhotite
    Chalcopyrite
    Cubanite
    Sphalerite
    Galena
    Pyrite
    Marcasite
    Fluorite
    Calcite
    Ankerite
    Phlogopite
    Chlorite
    Nontronite
    Quartz
    Metatorbernite
    Bassetite
    Metanovacekite
    Saleeite
    Meta-autunite
    Sodium Zippeite
    Metazeunerite
    Uranophane
    Hyalite
    Limonite
    Goethite
    Chrysocolla
It would make a great guide for prospecting this large mineralized area, or an essential historical reference on the area. All in all it is a scarce and desirable geologic publication on an important mining area.
