USGS Circular 615, “Some Shorter Mineral Investigations in Alaska.”
Published in 1969, this
25-page book
contains five articles on mineral deposits and related topics for locations in Alaska. The
articles
cover occurrences of nickel, molybdenum, silver, gold, mercury, lead and copper. Each artcle has a summary abstract and most have figures and maps. This is not heavy science, but rather very readable geology that makes this a nice book on mineral deposits in Alaska and a good addition to any library on the geology of Alaska. Photo 5.
USGS Circular 683, “United States Geological Survey Alaska Program, 1973.”
Published in 1973, this
56-page book
reports on the activities of the USGS planned for the upcoming 1973 field season, and summarizes important results from the 1972 research season. The 1972 results (pages 39-49) include 27 articles on the geology, minerals, fossils, and geologic history of Alaska (that’s actually a short list of the topics covered in these articles.) It all makes for interesting reading and would make a great addition to any library on the geology of Alaska. Photos 6-7.
USGS Circular 700, “United States Geological Survey Alaska Program, 1974.”
Published in 1974, this
63-page book
reports on the activities of the USGS planned for the upcoming 1974 field season, and summarizes important results from the 1973 research season. The 1973 results make up nearly half of the book (pages 32-59) and includes over 50 articles on the geology, minerals, fossils, and geologic history of Alaska (that’s actually a short list of the topics covered in these articles.) It all makes for interesting reading and would make a great addition to any library on the geology of Alaska. Photo 8-9.
USGS Circular 718, “The Alaska Mineral Resource Assessment Program: Background Information to Accompany Folio of Geologic and Mineral Resource Maps of the Nabesna Quadrangle, Alaska.”
This is an 11-page booklet that goes with other maps of the Nabesna Quadrangle of Alaska. It gives a good idea of what additional information is available for this area along the long straight part of the Alaska-Canada Border. Photos 10-11.
USGS Circular 722, “United States Geological Survey Alaska Program, 1975.”
Published in 1975, this
58-page book
reports on the activities of the USGS planned for the upcoming 1975 field season, and summarizes important results from the 1974 research season. The 1974 results (pages 37-53) include 39 articles on the geology, minerals, fossils, and geologic history of Alaska (that’s actually a short list of the topics covered in these articles.) It all makes for interesting reading and would make a great addition to any library on the geology of Alaska. Photo 12.
