    This is Oklahoma Bulletin 11,
The Gypsum and Salt of Oklahoma
    . Published in

, there can't be many of these around! This 214-page book comes complete with two fold-out parchment plates. One is an interesting drawing of a processing mill of some sort. The other is a geologic map of part of western Oklahoma. There is a third parchment map that is the size of the regular pages that shows parts of Beckham, Greer and Harmon counties.
This book discusses the occurrence and resource potential of gypsum and salt deposits in various parts of the state. There are pictures of selenite crystals and also of satin spar gypsum in rock. Several photos of features and places of interest help support the text. The old drawing of the mill is quite fascinating, as are the two geologic maps. Part of the text is devoted to properties of gypsum, its origin, gypsum products, and the processing of gypsum, as well as the geology of the gypsum-bearing areas of Oklahoma. A section on salt in Oklahoma is shorter, and the areas where gypsum and salt occur seem to be at opposite ends of the state.
Overall this is a cool old book that not only discusses the geology, but gives broader perspective on gypsum as a whole. A nice old book that has something for everyone - mineral collector, historian, or geologist.
