ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!! INTERESTING OLD BOOK!!This is Ohio Geology Bulletin 14,
Peat Deposits of Ohio - Their Origin, Formation, and Uses
. Published in 1912, the vintage hard cover book, contains 424 pages on the occurrence, characteristics, and uses of Peat.
It's amazing what they could do with this stuff. They tried all kinds of things like growing crops in it, using it for fertilizer, as fuel, extracting chemicals from it, making fabric, packing material. In addition to a long section on peat locales by county and township, there are many little maps of occurrences, a cool color map showing locations, several photos of key locales, and much more. It is a really cool old book on a little known topic, and contains great history of this industry and commodity in Ohio. A rare old book that will hold the interest of any geologist, naturalist, historian, Ohio resident, or nature enthusiast looking to get more background on these areas. A scarce volume.
