They tried all kinds of things like growing crops in it, using it for fertilizer, as fuel, extracting chemicals from it, making fabric, packing material. In addition to a long section on peat locales by county and township, there are many little maps of occurrences, a cool color map showing locations, several photos of key locales, and much more. It is a really cool old book on a little known topic, and contains great history of this industry and commodity in Ohio. A rare old book that will hold the interest of any geologist, naturalist, historian, Ohio resident, or nature enthusiast looking to get more background on these areas. A scarce volume.
