    Description

RARE OLD REPORT!!  NICE HARD COVER!!
This is NY State Museum Bulletin 201,
Genesis of the Zinc Ores of the Edwards District, St Lawrence County, New York.
This 40-page hard cover book was published in 1918.
These were originally issued with soft covers, but this was nicely rebound to hard covers, still preserving the original covers within.
This book delves into the curious problem of the unusual zinc deposits in the Adirondack Lowlands of New York.
The deposits there are unlike most Mississippi Valley type deposits in Tennessee and elsewhere. Their occurrence in metamorphic rocks really makes them stand out.
This book uses chemistry and microscope observations of ore and rock samples to delve into the formation, associations, and aspects in an attempt to unravel the complex geology and history of the ore deposits. For its time, this was cutting edge stuff, and it is still a great starting point to understand these deposits because the descriptions are so good. You just don't find work like this any more, which is sad.
A great book for the New York mineral enthusiast or historian. You'll probably not see this on Ebay again any time soon!
As always, please read the condition notes.
