    Description

NICE SET OF HISTORIC BOOKS!!  ONE NICE HARD COVER!!
Here is a nice set of three books on the mining and quarrying industries of New York in the early parts of the last century. Each covers a variety of commodities from industrial minerals to metals, plus petroleum or natural gas in some cases. These books discuss many localities and and mines around the state, and provide great historical perspective on the industry in New York. I thought of listing these separately, but they seemed to make a better set.
The first is NY State Museum Bulletin 174,
The Mining and Quarrying Industry of New York State.
This 111-page hard cover book was published in 1913, covering the industry in the previous year. Originally issued with soft covers, this was nicely rebound to hard covers that still preserve the original soft covers. This book covers the mining and production of a number of commodities. I've shown the Table of Contents and some of the pages within. First four pictures above.
    Second is
    NY State Museum Bulletin 305,
The Mining and Quarrying Industries of New York State for 1930-1933.
This 164-page book was published in 1936, covering the industry in the stated years. This book covers the mining and production of a number of commodities. I've shown some of the pages within. There is a second section in this book called
Recent Natural Gas Developments in New York State
which makes up about 65 pages of the total. Next four pictures above.
    Second is
    NY State Museum Bulletin 343,
The Mining and Quarrying Industries of New York State, 1937-1948.
This 130-page book was published in 1951, covering the industry in the stated years. Similar to the first book in its scope. I've shown some of the pages within. Last
    four pictures above.
A great set for the New York mineral enthusiast or historian. You'll probably never see these together again!
