. Published in 1939, this item consists of 25 page book with five large foldout tables, printed front and back with data about various wells, plus four foldout correlation diagrams, and two
foldout B&W
map sheets, each with a map on the front and back, one of which has features in red as well. This area was an important oil and gas producing region.
The report text is extensive, detailing the formations of the area, which is in Butler and Venango counties. The rocks seem to be Devonian to Pennsylvanian in age. The formations, surface structure, and geologic units are all described in great detail. All the tables, correlation diagrams and maps provide a ton of information. It is an interesting item for a Pennsylvania resident interested in the geology around them, or anyone else that likes vintage maps and reports.
These state reports are much harder to find than USGS bulletins.
