    Published in 1979, this 44 page book provides indispensable background and context on this important Coal, Oil, and Gas producing region.
    This is a rare item, because they were mostly gobbled up by geologists and companies exploring for coal or gas in the region. The latest boom cycle has only made it harder to find. It provides helpful big picture background on the regional depositional setting of the Carboniferous rocks, and how that changed over time. It is full of illustrations stratigraphic columns, maps and other diagrams, plus a ton of text explaining the relationships.
    The field trip starts near Pittsburgh airport and heads north on I-79. It would be easy to retrace the stops, although it's likely some things have changed in the 40-plus years since this was published. But even as a book to sit and read this would give you a great understanding of the geologic development of the region. I admit giving it a good read myself and found it very helpful!
    Hard to price since there are none available anywhere.
